Our History
The Professional Association was established in 1988 by Theodore Kharpertian. Since then, it has had a total of nine presidents, with Michael Ferlise currently serving in the role.
The HCCC Professional Association is the union for full-time faculty whose purpose is the following:
To work for the welfare of students, the advancement of education, and the improvement of instructional opportunities for all.
To develop and promote the adoption of such personnel policies and standards of preparation and participation as mark a profession.
To advance the professional rights, status, and responsibilities of its members as educators.
To represent its members and other employees in negotiations and grievances with the HCCC Board of Trustees on all matters of compensation and all other terms and conditions of employment.
To form a representative body to speak with authority for the members.
To establish cooperation between the educator and the community.
